I'm 73 years old and live quite happily in Sun City Huntley [Illinois] with my wife, Dawn.
In the summer of 2013 I had a Splenectomy [spleen removed] and a Cholecystectomy [removed my gall bladder] because I had some pain in my abdomen from mild, chronic inflammation. Then, the bomb hit when they discovered that I had a diffuse large B-Cell Lymphoma.
That set off a series of outpatient chemotherapy, bone marrow biopsies and radiation therapy from which I recovered very well.
In late February, 2015, I had a complaint about the gastric distress and when I had a blood test, my white blood cell count was 57,000. That was a sure sign of leukemia. I was a risk for leukemia because I'd had the B-Cell Lymphoma. Not a big risk. But, it did happen and set off this journey to cure or put the leukemia into remission.
Through all of this, I have worked. I am lucky that I own my own consulting business and generally work at home. If you're interested, it's Marcom Consulting.
